Why WAYV?
Cyclists are at their most vulnerable in low light and particularly when turning. At night hand signals are barely visible and are often performed very briefly to avoid loosing control of the bike.
We set out to create the ultimate bike safety light system, one that has both front and back turn indicators and remains highly visible in different riding positions. A solution for all types of cyclist, which is wearable with or without a backpack and does not need to be removed from a bike to prevent theft.
A system that builds on the established car lighting and indication paradigms that everybody already understands.
The WAYV harness has over 200 seamlessly integrated super bright LED's to make you super bright and super visible.
Front and back indicators keep you in control of your bike with your hands on the handlebars whilst letting traffic and pedestrians know which way you are turning or maneuvering.
Placed in the middle of your back for maximum visibility and behind an iconic hi-viz X, the huge red tail-light array can be configured to flash, stay on or switch off whilst indicating.
With rider (and jogger) comfort at the forefront, the lightweight, breathable and fully adjustable harness sits as happily over a waterproof jacket in winter as it does a t-shirt in summer without impeding movement.
The harness is rechargeable, waterproof & durable but also flexible & soft enough that it can easily be folded and stowed in a small bag.
Designed with cycling commuters in mind, the same WAYV harness can be attached directly to backpacks.
The visibility of the indicators and tail lights remains the same.
How to attach.
1. The lower straps hug the bag and 2. the upper elements follow the bag's shoulder straps, magnetically clipping around them and maintains the front indicator feature.
Once attached in this way the WAYV harness can be slipped on and off the body as easily and quickly as a conventional backpack.
The WAYV headset features 2 indicators, an "X" tail light and can be attached to most vented helmets.
It's ultra thin and lightweight form factor is waterproof and rechargeable.
Positioned at the highest point of visibility on a cyclist the headset can sync with a WAYV harness and convert a regular helmet into a WAYV indicator helmet.
The harness and headset indicator lights are controlled simultaneously by a detachable wireless remote on your handlebars.
The remote can be operated without adjusting your grip when turning, the lever is nudged up or down with your thumb to activate the indicators and then nudged again to switch them off.
Borrowing much from the car indicating experience blinking icons on the remote help to remind you if the indicators are still on after performing a turn.
The WAYV system includes a smartphone app to show battery levels and to configure, customise and pair the harness, helmet and remote.
Our team has been hard at work for the past two years to bring the WAYV system from concept to reality. At the current stage of prototyping we have working harnesses and helmet modules which can be worn and taken out onto the streets for testing and gaining invaluable user feedback.
The WAYV bicycle indication system was designed and developed by Amit and Dotun, both enthusiastic cyclists. Amit is a software architect with electronics background and Dotun is an analyst and software designer. Together they have more than 20 years of shared experience. They have invested their own money to get the product to the prototype stage. WAYV engaged Sabotage Design, a product design consultancy based in London, to further develop the products, user experience and manufacturing.
We have worked hard over the last two years with the design house and the manufacturing partners to make sure every element of the design is well understood before production can begin, so there are no surprises when we go into production. And we are happy to report, with our experienced manufacturing partners we stand ready to deliver WAYV.

Team WAYV have worked on the design of the harness, helmet and controller and selection of the manufacturing partner for over two years now. A lot of effort has been put in to make sure the design is simple and effective. During design phase it was the primary motivation to make the WAYV indicators portable, hassle free & modular.
The challenge was to come up with the design that won’t hinder the primary function of cycling and will provide the maximum visibility. With different type of bicycles and riding position, we wanted to make sure there WAYV is suitable for all cyclists.
We are very pleased to say that we have tested WAYV with different bicycles and it worked as expected in most of the cases with little tweaks. All the field tests and tweaks, resulted in creation of well rounded design that works well for commuter cyclists with backpacks or without.
With product design out of the way, electrical components were designed and created based on very well understood components including: bluetooth; micro controllers; and smart led’s that we see all around us these days.
Due to the relatively simple nature of the technology and hardware we have a lot of confidence that our products at production will meet all safety and certification standards.
In any case, there is no risk that a unit we ship you is not safe. All units we ship must and will meet our quality control standards.
The potential risk that we can't mitigate is encountering unexpected difficulties in assembly. Every new product will go through a teething process and ours will be no exception. That's why we have selected a manufacturing partner and suppliers of electronic components that has been well established in industry. Going through the manufacturing process is difficult, but our team and partners are more than up to the challenge.
